Every comparison on this site is generated from the live Rare Carat product catalog, then reviewed and written up by our editors.
Where the data comes from
Each morning we pull the full Rare Carat catalog for fine jewelry, wedding bands and lab diamond engagement rings. That covers price, metal, carat weight, diamond type, setting style and stock status for every size and metal of every design. Out of stock variants are dropped before anything is ranked.
How a design makes the shortlist
Variants of the same design (for example the same tennis bracelet in three metals and four carat weights) are grouped so one design never fills the table twice. Designs that are among Rare Carat's best sellers in recent months go first, ranked by how often they are ordered. We then fill the rest of the shortlist with designs spread evenly across the price range, from the lowest entry price to the top end, and prefer a mix of metals and setting styles so the shortlist shows real choices rather than near duplicates.
What the labels mean
- Best overall: the most ordered design on the shortlist. When no best seller fits a page, a mid priced design with the widest choice of metals and sizes.
- Customer favorite: another recent best seller.
- Best value: the lowest entry price on the shortlist (the next lowest when the cheapest is already the best overall pick).
- Best splurge: the top of the range, usually the most carat weight.
- Other labels call out a specific strength such as platinum, a bezel setting or everyday wearability.
The price ladder
Each comparison shows where every pick sits among all designs in stock, from the cheapest on the left to the most expensive on the right, with the typical (median) price marked in the middle.
Prices
Prices are the lowest in stock price for each design at the time of the morning update and can change during the day. The product page is always the final word on price and availability.
